New forum UK Ofcom rules.

Normally, I would agree, but thesedays everyones getting all global, Brazil blocking twitter etc, and our new govnmnt seem to be getting all worldwide legal.
Im just guessing they may block access if they dont comply, its not something they havent tried before.

Its incredibly extensive legislation, techically every forum will require facebook level moderation.

The LFGSS forum has announced it’s shutting down next March because of this. It’s a one person operation and the owner has looked into the legislation and says the legal risks & costs to him are just too big to continue. That the laws are designed for big online players and lots of small forums & sites will have to shut. LFGSS has been an incredible resource for all things bicycle for many many years and used by people all over the world. So that’s a shock. He said the laws mean it’s also not practical to re register in another country apparently as the legislation is based on user’s nationality as well. Complicated and extensive stuff apparently.

Even Musk is challenging its reach.

The UK is now going absolute full authoritarian state under the guise of protection.
Theyve just announced ID numbers for every baby born and are stripping the fundamental right for parents to homeschool without extensive state involvement in every aspect of the curriculum and political ideology.

Ho hum, interesting days

I was waiting for that.
Papers please is drilled into every British persons soul, we absolutely reject joined up agency number ID.

The closest we have got is National Insurance ID and it rubs us right up the wrong way every time we are asked for it.
I dont even know mine, very few people do.
I think nothing of driving with no ID whatsoever.
They keep trying of course.
Driving licence number
NHS number
Tax reference number.
Passport number

But everytime they suggest.

'How about one number to rule them all'

Go fuff yourselves, and this birth legislation could well be the final straw.

I think Britain is some 50 years behind Poland in this matter. We have the PESEL, which is a unique person identifier. You use it for bank, driving license, insurance, whatever requires an ID. Your physician visits, vaccination, or even prescriptions are based on the ID.

You can securely log into the government website and find out what the government knows about you.

You can keep the citizen app on your phone and present your ID or a driving license or insurance to the police when needed.

Moreover, we even do not use passports inside the EU. The personal ID card (that includes your personal ID number) does.

Yea, but the Brits always know it better 😃
