New 2021 Specialized Como

Just picked it up and will be going for my first ride in a few minutes. A couple of issues, I haven't figured out how to change the display from KPH to MPH, and the front fender has a very long mud flap that nearly touches the ground and is a real pain when walking the bike down a curb. Looking forward to talking to other Specialized owners down in the Specialized forum. I live in Tucson and we have a couple hundred miles of bikeways and lots of warm, sunny days, been riding 15 miles per day on my pedal bikes, this is my first e-bike. Did not plan on getting one this soon, was going to wait till I reached my target weight goal, but I went and looked and they made me a deal I couldn't turn down. Will use the power sparingly till I reach that goal which is another 20 lbs, lost the first 20 on my non-ebikes. This bike kind of checks a lot of boxes I wanted, as I needed more gears and I wanted fenders so I get it all with the e-bike plus power.

edit: Got the speedometer figured out.

Cheers, Brian in Sunny Tucson, AZ.

Congratulations @bigb! Pictures, please!
Feel invited to the Specialized Turbo Vado/Como/Tero User Club!

Regarding the fender. The extra long mud-flap can be a nuisance. However, it protects the bottom of the motor not only against mud but also again dust. If the headlight on your Como is attached to the fork crown (and you only plan riding on dry days), you could easily remove the fender.

Thanks Stefen and yes I will get some pics up soon! I will live with the fender for now and if necessary I will trim the mud flap a couple of inches, don't plan to ride in the rain ever, and we rarely get rain in the desert anyway, but we do have dust! .My next chore is to research locks and a possible alarm.
For a little background I am quite mechanical and have several rollaways full of tools including light duty torque wrenches in metric and SAE. I do all my own work on my 4 motor vehicles and can do anything to a standard old style bike but the new ones I will need to learn a thing or two and never had an e-bike before. I am also a retired electrician and a hobby welder, blacksmith and general metal worker. Looking forward to being here!

Here's a few pics, just got back from my second ride. Also pictured is Mad Jimi which has been my daily rider since September and will still get used as it's a lot of fun (wheels are 26" they just look small due to large frame), then my Schwinn 1 speed cruiser named Freddy Freeloader. Also pictured is "The Doc" a special bike made for tall folks who don't like to ride hunched over. Haven't named the e-bike yet. Question, when does the laughing and grinning stop?
