here in the desert i dont have to worry a lot about rain when hauling but during monsoon like now it is a possibility
I watch the weather and put the cover on if think it is needed, it is quick to throw it on if i misjudge and end up in a storm which happened in tucson the other day
Have 2 massive bike stuff bags for the suv and this stuff stays in there until needed
bought 2 of the 2 bike covers by baleaf on amazon- these come with a storage bag and they squish back in there pretty well after using
One has been in 4-5 storms and covered at least 1000 miles and no tears etc
But i attribute that more to the truck bungee i bought to secure them, although the bike cover seems well made for the price
Did a little research on "travelling bike covers" and the main thing everyone said was they hold up if tied down tight and not allowed to flap around
Purchased a cheap truck bungee off amazon , think it was $10-12
it has removable clips - which you need
Take all the clips off and throw it over the covers then secure it with the clips where you need it, if you leave the clips on when you take it off they totally tangle up the bungee
This seems to be working well, the truck bungee has pretty big squares in it, if i was going to travel across the country might put 2 on to keep the cover really still
But so far going 70-80 mph on the highways here they are doing good
One thing to keep in mind is this covers up your car tail lights pretty good
There are several magnetic plug in tail light sets and i just ordered one for my suv to put on the rack
Actually think the fat bike is covering up the tail lights pretty bad without a cover, so this will stay on my rack all the time
After posting about my rain/hail storm mishap yesterday maybe no one worries about protecting their bikes from the rain when on the car rack....
Everyone seems to think they are pretty tough in the rain
Guess i will find out monday when i try mine after drying out lol
