I'm thinking maybe that bike has been around a while? Bafang (as well as a few others) did make them that way for safety for a few months not too long ago, but there was so much blow back from upset customers they decided that maybe it wasn't a very good idea after all. If it's a BBS02 motor, and a good deal otherwise, somebody that wanted to could change that "feature" in the programming, which requires a cable and a windows based computer. A decent shop should be able to disable that feature as well.I test-rode a Serfas e-Dash Plus at a local store and it has those 3 items. The mid drive is a 500W Bafang. But the throttle only worked when the pedals were being moved, so one would have to at least ghost-pedal at low cadence in order to use throttle. The salesman said it was a safety feature...
A firmware change and the brain trust at endless_sphere denies the possibility. Sadly when I left the support job I inadvertently deleted a bunch of files, including some firmware files. I'm thinking they are out there on the internet but hard to dig out and find...A decent shop should be able to disable that feature as well.
You're saying that once set, you don't believe the ability to kill the non 0 start up is possible? Hadn't heard that. Interesting.I

No I’m saying it’s a firmware issue and it can be fixed by flashing to a previous firmware. I lost the .bin files but they are out there in the wilds of the internet.You're saying that once set, you don't believe the ability to kill the non 0 start up is possible? Hadn't heard that. Interesting.
So if somebody were to load an older file - from a time prior to this safety/non 0 start crap, that might over write the hard code you're speaking of?No I’m saying it’s a firmware issue and it can be fixed by flashing to a previous firmware. Just as the title says, I am looking for a bike (preferably $3,500 or less) that has:
-Mid Drive,
-integrated headlights
-throttle
I find that most mid drives don't have a throttle so it would be nice to have one that does!
good choices, Dapu and Bafang make solid motors but imo Dost can be a little overpriced?Here are a few suggestions:
Dost Kope, Rize MD, Biktrix Stunner, all use the Bafang BBS02;
Electric Bike Technologies City, Pedego City Commuter Mid-drive, both use the Dapu 500w mid-drive.
IF it's in the same series. BBS02B and BBS01B, BBS01 and BBS02, A couple of shops have been able to unbrick controllers and revert to other firmware within the series. So far none of us have been willing to release the files to forums. They're not mine to release. A well-known USA shop has created so much consternation that no one is willing to release files to the wild for their use.So if somebody were to load an older file - from a time prior to this safety/non 0 start crap, that might over write the hard code you're speaking of?
