Mayonnaise War :D

Most people don’t know that back in 1912, Hellmann’s mayonnaise was manufactured in England. In fact, the Titanic was carrying 12,000 jars of the condiment scheduled for delivery in Vera Cruz, Mexico, which was to be the next port of call for the great ship after its stop in New York...

This would have been the largest single shipment of mayonnaise ever delivered to Mexico. But as we know, the great ship did not make it to New York. The ship hit an iceberg and sank, and the cargo was forever lost.

The people of Mexico, who were crazy about mayonnaise, and were eagerly awaiting its delivery, were disconsolate at the loss. Their anguish was so great, that they declared a National Day of Mourning, which they still observe to this day.

The National Day of Mourning occurs each year on May 5th and is known, of course, as Sinko de Mayo.

Sick of de Mayo. I mean. Mustard or die.
But not Plochmanns. I was making a point.

There is a whole hospital system dedicated to the wide range of conditions it causes !
When we are already at it, did you know Dr. Bud Kurwa of California was the most famous eye doctor among the Polish internet community?

For those unaware, "kurwa" means "a working girl" and is the most used of the Polish curse words :)

Who knew mayo use was such a problem? There is a whole hospital system dedicated to the wide range of conditions it causes !

Since I've made it a goal to make a decision by late spring whether to move to Up Nort Wisconsin, or not, this will go on the pro side of the list. I know Miracle Whip is sold in stores there. There was Our Family instead of Western Family and Hardee's instead of Carl's Juniors. And Dairy Queens are open all year here.

Near the Yoopers? Are you in WI now? LaCrosse area for us.
Nope. I lived near da yoopers 16 years ago for a couple of years. Then moved back to da homeland because of family (old people) stuff going on. I am a native of the PNW, which has become overcrowded. After last summer's heat and smoke I actually hitched up my trailer and zoomed off to see how much Up Nort had changed. It has changed a bit for the better. Way more things to do there, especially when all my best play areas are closed (in this area) because of wildfires.

I do find moving to be a major pain and I hate the drive through North Dasota, and West Dasota (E. Montana).

Just got back from a biking trip to obtain Miracle Whip. The mission was successful.

All this and I forgot to get some Miracle Whip yesterday. I managed to scrape enough out of the squeeze bottle. Another bike ride to Safeway. Safeway is the closest store with a bike rack.
Have a friend who likes to crack the lid on the miracle whip and let it"age" a bit( not recommended)😋

This time, I've just brought these vittles from my night winter ride:
  • Pierogi
  • Pork in jelly
  • Tuna spread & caviar spread
  • Eight bottles/cans of assorted IPAs, Imperial Stout, and Barley Wine.
No mayo this time!

I hear that, if nothing else, Miracle Whip is good for lubricating bike chains…

(Just kidding. I grew up with both. Dad preferred Miracle Whip, mom mayonnaise.)
