I have searched high and low for any ebike events here in southeast mich,or the state. Not much to be found. There is a lot of bike ride events, but they are not ebike specific. So with that being said I will start posting my rides if anyone wants to join, maybe we can get this going.I do have a ride set for Sept 17,18.Starting in Waters Mi on the north Central Trail.Just me on my ebike and my friend on his pedal touring bike.1st day we ride up to Indian River and stop at his camp site and have lunch with our wives, then we continue on to Cheboygan.Me and my wife will stay there for the nite.2nd day on to Makinaw City, down the trail to Pellston, cut back over to topinabee, then back up to Cheboygan.Anyone is welcome to join.If you have any other rides this fall let me know. Thanks Cliff

Cliff, how many miles are you able to get from your battery? I don't know the exact mileages involved for your trip, but it sounds like you're getting many more than I ever dreamed of. Are you fit enough to ride that many miles using an absolute minimum amount of battery, or am I missing something? -Al

Hi Al.1st day will be about 65 miles,2nd less.I have an SSR sandviper fat hardtail with a 48v14amp batt.In pas 1 I have gone 100 miles in 1 day with a little charge left.I also had a Grin Cycle Analyst v3 installed by a local shop so that I can max out my rides.I avg 11mph with strong pedaling(hence,Slowpoke)and I avg 6.5 watts/mile no wind.I thought the analyst might be calibrated wrong so I went to the shop and he said its calibrated correctly.I am a lifelong long distance runner and got into cycling to strengthen my legs. The ebike is so much fun I find I have been running a lot less.Cliff

Your ride(s) are routes I used to cover frequently on snowmobiles. Over 40 years worth of pounding those same trails. I know that area like the back of my hand, and it's some of the nicest areas there are anywhere (especially in the fall colors!). You're talking about some awesome rides!

For comparison purposes, I'm a fat old man with a 14ah battery (+-). Also been riding most of my life. I ride in PAS 1 almost exclusively, also at lower speeds (8-12mph) as I do like to pedal/provide some power, but apparently not like you do! I just charged last night after draining my battery to just under 47v, with 27 miles on the clock. Rad City w/Mac 12t hub, and 26x2.3 tires (hybrid) .

My point is, you aren't just looking for somebody to ride with, you're looking for somebody that can stretch their batteries to 65 miles! Have fun! -Al

Going on a ride tomorrow (Sunday) on the Lower Huron Metro Park trail/and Willow trail.NewBoston Mi.Your welcome to join.Cliff

Sorry, I've been committed by the entertainment committee (my wife) already. Metro Park ride sounds interesting. Keep posting! -Al

I'd be interested in any rides in SE MI. I can't make the waters ride but I don't think I could squeeze that many miles out my 12ah battery anyways.

Def could do a ride at metro parks next time u go.

Just got back today from riding around houghton lake area.

The waters ride is a casual ride.We have 2 pickup trucks and 2 wives not riding bikes and they can come and pick us up anywhere along the ride. Its about 40 miles to the campground stop with electricity available.Anyone can join and choose their length of ride and we can help out with transportation along the route.

Ya I seen your other thread about it. I can't tomorrow. I will probably be riding thru willow and oakwood parks on Thursday. I have to go to buddies and setup his new bike then riding from his place. Welcome to meet up if in the area, but I wouldn't come to just to ride with us. His first ride and we are just cutting thru parks. Have no idea what time be there at other than in evening. He has work and then have to tune his bike.

Our start/end point is D on the pic.

By chance have you tried out the Kal Haven trail on the west side of the state? My wife and I have been hoping to get away for a weekend to try an overnight trip but also fearing they won't allow e-bikes (class 1). I'm pretty sure it is run by the DNR so e-bikes are probably not allowed (website says nothing motorized). We are metro-Detroit and haven't made time for a weekend trip due in part to wondering if we might get stopped and ticketed. We've been scoping the Cardinal Greenway in Indiana as a next best alternative.

A comment regarding Mi. DNR riding. To the best of my knowledge they're fine with e-bikes. I live nearly next door to a rather large park (Pontiac Lk. Rec. area) and have never been bothered at all over a period of years now. When encountering a ranger, it's just a wave and on about your business. This while riding on park roads AND trails. Fresh in my mind is one encounter a couple days ago where the ranger was so surprised to see me and the wife he drove his John Deere right off the 2 track trail to avoid us. This was on a blind curve in the woods. A sheepish grin and a wave of his hand were all that resulted....

I called the DNR last week about the north central trail and class 1 ebikes. He said all DNR trails that meet the requirements for the state classification of class 1 are approved for our class 1 ebikes. The signs at each trail head that say(no Motor Vehicles)are old signs and are ment for autos, atv, motorcycles etc.We are good to go.Also I know the District Manager of the Huron-Manistee National Forest Mio Office. He said the same thing.Any trail that meets the state definition for class1 is good for class 1 ebikes. We easly have over 2600 miles of tails to ride.Lets get going.
