Hi EBR community,

I'm looking for an ebike that weights under 17kg and uses the Bosch Performance motor. Any suggestions?

Thanks in advance!

What type of riding? Is it for fair weather sport or for daily transportation in any weather? Urban, Mountain, Road or Touring? Do you need to carry things and have a rack? Do you want a comfortable ride for hours in the saddle or a zippy ride where you feel the tarmac and surfaces you carve?

Yeah, the list is pretty short regardless of use-case once you limit it to Bosch Speed/CX only and 17kg.

Trek Domane HP, I think makes the list along with the Canyon. I think Cannondale Topstone Neo and Bulls Desert Falcon (?) are both probably closer to 18kg.

But 17Kg in an ebike might be a tall order. Most batteries are around 4-5kg.
theoretically possible of course; a top end creo weighs only 12.5kg or so, but with a lighter motor. the bosch performance motor isn’t 4.5kg heavier (only 1-2?) so it’s surely possible… but it would be expensive, requiring everything else on the bike to be light but strong. a tough combo.

lots of electric road bikes with with 30-40nm of torque are aviable that weigh <14kg. creo, orbea gain, etc.

trek domane HP comes very close with the bosch performance motor at 17.5kg

When I bought my Cannondale Lefty 3 (medium size) the shop weighed it for me. With pedals and a water bottle cage it weighed 18kg.
The bike lost 800g when I switched to carbon wheels, but I've added small stuff to the bike (mirror, cell phone holder, front and rear lights, etc), so the bike is still probably around the 18kg mark.

The Cannondale Topstone Neo Carbon 2 weighs 16.7 kilograms, It has a fixed carbon fork, 700c rims and a 2x11 22 speed drive train, one of the few that has two front chainrings. It is more of a road bike than the 1&2 which have the lefty fork, 650B rims and are more gravel oriented. They are hard to find these days, as are all the bikes in this category. All three of the neo carbons have Bosch speed motor & 500 watt batteries.

a perfect fit for the OP’s requirement… or the gravel version if a little more squish (and weight) is desired…

I do loaded touring, unsupported. Looking for a lighter bike for touring than my Bulls Cross Step. It weighs 50 Pounds with my 5 racks. This has the powerful Bosch Performance CX Motor. I tour with a lot of weight and need the power. Just cycled a 900 mile tour in The Europe. 60 miles per day.

Thanks.m

Terry the biker.
