Lights off ?

I just bought a Bulls Iconic TR2 Speed, and I can't turn the lights off. My understanding is that it's a level 3 ebike, so they're supposed to be always on. Is there a way to turn them off, or manually turn on and off ?

Some manufacturers, e.g. Trek default the lights to always on.

per Trek, the function behind the on/off control SlapHappy correctly describes can only be enabled via Trek’s maintenance and set-up software which is unavailable to mere mortals.

Ask your Tech if that same always on default applies to your bike, and if s/he will enable the on/off control via the bike’s maintenance software.

The Trek software also provides control for the intensity of the beam. The set point is for low, medium, or high. That set intensity is not otherwise user controllable. Unless you have a dimmer switch for high and low beam.

If the Bulls is like my Cannondale, with a Bosch Gen4 motor, this has to be done with the Bosch diagnostic at a Bosch or Bulls dealer. The two options are "always on" (speed pedelec European regulation), or "last state". When set to "last state", the Kiox turns the lights on and off, and the handlebar button cycles between low and high. Off means off though, including both the taillight and stop modes on the rear light. At least my bike works this way. I wish I could have the tail light on all the time, with only the headlight under control. That would take running a separate wire to the taillight from the motor, which I will do at some point.
