Is it possible to limit motor power?

I have an e-bike with a 3000w rated motor and a 60V25ah battery with a 40A max controller, and I capped my speed at 40kph. When I'm driving my power meter on my display shows about 2300W to 2700W is running through the motor, is it possible to reduce the power the controller is feeding to the motor, I'm pretty sure nearly 3000W isn't necessary just to maintain a speed of 40kph

60v 3000watts! Wth made you buy such a powerful bike to start with!?
 
Your motor is draining what it needs to do the work. IMO reducing the power will simply reduce your speed. Your bike is certainly heavy, with huge tires, upright rider position, no gear choice, no pedals, all these things contribute to the high energy demand.

What type of E-Bike is that? Sounds like a Scooter or a motor cycle!

I've had a 1000 w 48 v motor that burnt the pins off in the rain 7/14. Has a bad clutch, too. I'm replacing it with a 500 W 36v motor. That is 12.5 amps @ 40 v. My controller will put out 23 amps. I bought a 500 w controller but it came in with none of the throttle or PAS connectors matching anything pictured on ebay, the colors not matching, and the lables in Chinese. So I'm going to use a 23 amp rated controller & a 48 v 50 A rated battery. The controller & throttle came with a 48 v ebikeling motor that wore out the gears in ~4500 miles.
To avoid burning up the motor, I'm putting 2 ohm 30 watt resistors in series with the 3 phase wires, blue green yellow. This should drop 40 v off the 54.6 v available if throttle demand is 20 amps, and 20 v off the 54.6 v at 10 amps. I intend to limit amount of throttle I use, but if I screw up I won't burn out the motor. Resistors are wirewound, should tolerate high wattages temporarily. If not they cost $2.80 each. Availability of replacement 48 v geared hub motor power wheels for 55 mm tires from US suppliers is approaching zero. I won't be sending my debit card # overseas.
This will cut speed & range but I have enough with 17.5 AH. My hips pain me before the battery runs out. I don't want to go over 10 mph powered.

I attached a photo of the bike now,also isn't the controller in charge of the power it feeds the motor,and 3kw rating of the motor just means its won't overheat at 3000w.
My question is it possible to reduce the amount of power the controller is feeding the motor like to maybe a 1000W rather than the 2300 to 2700W right now,it just seems like wasted power and battery amps just to go 40kph
 
When I see your bike I am surprised that you need that much power to go 40 kph. I would also be worried in your situation.

I can go 40kph with less than 1100w with my MTB. I don't understand. When you use your PAS numbers or your throttle, it's what you do, reduce the amount of Amp. available to the motor.

I I changed current limit in the advanced settings of my display,nothing changed still using the same amount of power when I use the throttle

Exactly why I'm trying to limit it,2300W to 2700W for 40kps is just a waste of energy and my battery amps

Just curious, what is that giant thing in the middle of your bike - with the handle on it? Never seen that before...
 
So in case anyone wants a laugh.. it looks like I made a mistake and thought some of the picture in the background was part of that.. It looks like it's just your phone holder with some of the wheel from the picture on the wheel.

Sorry for that. I thought maybe it was some kind of specialized throttle you had on your bike.

Edit: I do want to say - you have a really cool Bike! Also pretty sick helmet too!
