Intermittent fault in Steps 8000 motor

Hi there. I'm the proud owner of a new Merida E160 900e, and pleased as punch with the way it goes over everything in sight. I've done a few hundred kilometres on it, but I've only just realized there's an intermittent fault with the motor.

Sometimes when I start a ride the bike appears to power up, the lights and screen all come on, the di2 works fine, but the motor provides no assistance.

It has happened four times, and it might sound strange to say I've only just realized that's the problem, but for some reason I thought it was me, and not the bike that was failing to produce the power. I feel much better knowing that the reason I thought I was going to have a heart attack is because I was trying to ride a 50 pound bike up a gnarly set of switchbacks, not because my 63 year old body had forgotten to wake up this morning.

Anyway, when it happened on yesterday's ride, I did the computer thing (switched it of and switched it on again) and everything worked. 20kms of full-bore rock bashing no problems.

I'm taking back to the dealer to ask some questions this afternoon, but I wondered if anyone else has experienced a similar issue with the Shimano motor, and if you have diagnosed the source of such a fault.
