I'm age 69, have 3 15 deg hills out near my summer camp. With 21 speeds and a 32:32 low, I could usually ride up one, but balancing at that slow speed is a nuisance. Then stand and slow down breath until the next one. Electricity is nice: 170 bpm is not wise for 69 year olds. I ride about 24 miles of the 30 commute without electricity, however, unless the headwind is over 12 mph. My geared hub installation on the bike left with 48 v 17 AH battery was about $900.
