Hi All live in Victoria Australia and have bought an e bike for commuting.

- Ortlieb Pabbiers

- Suspension Stem
- Changed pedals

To get me going, 1500km clocked over recently pics from morning commute

Yes were quite blessed here in Melbourne we have a pretty temperate climate and apart from some hot days around march where we get up over 40Deg C its pretty kind weather for commuting and bike riding year round as you note below. i doubt the extremes you must see in Alaska.

We never really see snow for example unless in the high country. What have to be worried about is magpies here in breeding season when riding

Please elaborate. My vision of harried cyclists dodging the advances of amorous magpies is probably off.

Theirs lots on Magpies in You tube but here is a funny ones

and basically every spring makes news every season and they put out alerts as to locations

and yes we do put cable ties in our helmets to protect us

They are a menace particularly when rinding on bike path amounst trees and the likes

Those magpies down under must be some crazy subspecies, we have them up here as well but I’ve never heard of them attacking people, though they would mess with my cat when I let him out. The only birds that we have that will attack bikers are arctic terns and great horned owls, both of those will get your attention when they don’t want you around!

Never been attacked by one, but we have lots of seagulls and they dish out serious beatings to magpies.
They should put a plastic gull on the helmet

Our Denver neighborhood was always full of magpies, and they never attacked. In fact, I was happy to have them around. They're at least as intelligent as crows, and what elegant plumage — especially when the right light brings out the blue on their outspread wings!

But ours all had black beaks. The white beaks on the Australian magpies in the videos do suggest a different breed. The white also gives them a spooky Tim Burton-esque look from the front.

Hummingbirds are the only birds I've been attacked by with any frequency. The ones on our SoCal patio buzz and scold us all the time — mainly to keep us away from the very feeders WE put out for them. Ingrates!

We nicknamed this one Killer cuz he took over and viciously defended one feeder for an entire season. And we once spent an entire weekend ducking zillions of hostile hummingbirds in a Colorado mountain town.

BTW, unicorns are no goody two-shoes, either. What do you think they do with those horns?
