I am a semi-retired Australian professional mechanical engineer now living the Philippines. Over the past few years I have spent some time in China where electric bike, trikes and small cars/vans are very popular. Ebikes and trikes are now also slowly starting to become popular here in the Philippines.

A good Filipino friend of mine is a pedicad drive. For pedicab, think of a 20" diameter wheel heavy duty direct drive bicycle with sidecar. These pedicabs carry up to 3 people plus the driver charging about USD0.20 per passenger per kilometre. Hard work for the money.

I am looking to help my friend by possibly converting his pedicab into electric drive with peddle assist.

During my research, I stumbled across this forum and liked what I read, so I joined.

Welcome to the family!

Looks like you guys are getting ready for Super Typhoon Mangkhut! Having the pedicab may be the best type transportation if typhoon hits. Hopefully, you still have some electricity and the pedicab is water proof.
