Hello From Bucks County, PA

Hello All,

Took Delivery of my new Cannondale Canvas Neo 1, this morning. It's a 2020 model leftover. I went over it with a fine tooth having worked in a small shop years ago. I have built all of my current bikes (5) and this is my first new store bought bike in 30 years. I gotta say, the last time I rode something with this large (fat) of a tire (60-622 or 29x2.35) was when I was serving two daily newspapers on my Schwinn Heavy Duty. Looking forward to enjoy the discussions and maybe I can even contribute.

Congrats and welcome. Curious what you think of “store bought bikes” nowadays. So you build your own frames all these years? Or maybe they’re “store bought”?

Tyler State park is a fine place to break-in your new eBike.
The Delaware canal path is a fantastic ride. The whole stretch from Bristol to Easton on the PA side is great.
The lake path at Peace Valley park is a great little ride.
Take a trip up to the lehigh gorge state park on a nice day!

Thank You, I do have a Mountain Bike but haven't ridden it much lately. Rode the "Families behind the Badge" fundraiser last year, but that was on 25mm's. I have a feeling these will be pillows. Thanks again

Thanks for the welcome. The store bought's of today still follow the same logic that they have always followed. The grade of components, the tires, rims etc all have to meet a general price point. Some bikes offer better components than others in the same price point. I look at the rear derailleur of my new Cannondale as compared to a M730 Series XT and have to indeed marvel at the engineering involved . I have built a few frames but I am be no means good at it. I couldn't afford at the time to invest in the Jigs required for frame building to do it the right way. I have bought the frames for my current bikes based on geometry and materials used. I then spec the components that I use based on my experience of using them or other considerations. I tend to buy NOS as last years model is fine by me at a fraction of the cost. The last gruppo that I bought was New Old Stock, 7800 series Dura-Ace -10 Speed for $200. I build my wheels and mostly, I enjoy the overall assembly process almost as much as riding them. I tend to be a perfectionist. This Cannondale isn't made in Bedford

Thank You! I used to fish in Tyler before it was a state park. Me and a friend used to ride our bikes there from Hatboro with fishing rods lased to the top tubes. It's now, not around the corner but close, will check it out. I have ridden the canal path along the Delaware but prefer the New Jersey side. Frenchtown to Washington's crossing is 50miles round trip. Used to entice my daughter with an Ice Cream stop so she would go with me. Again, have ridden Peace Valley but it can become extremely busy on a weekend. They have improved the surface after years of neglect (Much like our roads) Have been on the Lehigh as well but not recently.
You can go North on the Delaware Trail and end up on the Lehigh Trail at the other end and go onto Allentown following the river. Another favorite is the Perkiomen trial from Green Lane to the Schuylkill and not to mention the SRT itself. Thanks for your thoughts
