Hello, I’m a long-time lurker and avid reader of your collective wisdom. Wanted to pipe up and say thanks y'all for making this one of my favorite internet resources.

After a year of hemming and hawing, and realizing that I was never really going to make more use of my old-school Townie 7D, I had resolved to order an Electra Commute Go from my LBS. I had just popped by the LBS to take a non-electric Commute for one last test drive before placing my order for the Go. I was sure that the swept back handle bars on the Commute were easier on my 50+ "old lady shoulders” and what’s not to love about that electric boost!

As luck would have it, I had just watched Court’s video review of the Loft and low and behold the LBS had one that they had assembled that very day. Honestly, without the benefit of Court’s review, my take on the Loft was that it was some citified roadish bike and probably not for me. So I was able to try and study the Loft, the Commute, and the Townie frames all side by side. Such an invaluable experience! The Loft was by far the most comfortable for me.

I am not going to lie, there are times that I really miss the old Townie “flat foot technology.” In the first week I did just topple right over at a stand still (so embarrassing!) . But, I am getting the hang of it. And, getting out and riding more which IYAM is good for the body and the soul. So thanks y'all!

Contratulations of the purchase on your New Electra Loft Go. You will definitly enjoy the more active riding style vs your Townie 7D. I purchased the Townie Commute Go about a month ago after my 1600 plus mile riding experience with the Townie Go. I have no issues whatsoever with the Townie Go, but the Commute Go geometry, less forward crank placement, and the swept back handlebars fit my needs better. I ride further and longer than originally anticipated. My wife has a Townie Go, and it works great for her doing mostly neighborhood rides. As you know the Loft Go has the same components as the Commute model. I think you will also like the Nexus 8 speed internal hub vs the 7D derailleur on your Townie. Post pics when you have a chance. Here's the Loft. I'm lucky to have access to these crushed granite trails and some paved ones right outside the door. The LBS guys said that I'd be fine on the granite as long as I wasn't riding 10+ miles per day on it. I hope that's true because the granite is pretty dang rough. After a few rides, I feel like I oughta be investing a general tightening tool and giving it a once over every so often. Thoughts, anyone?

Thank you! Yep, that's the Electra "Commuter Rear Rack Bag" and the QR low profile basket. The low profile basket is a perfect fit for a certain backpacking / bike riding parrot. And, the trunk bag seems to be cleverly made (although I don't have much else to compare it to). Electra claims that a 15-inch laptop fits into the Rack Bag, but my 15-inch MacBook doesn't fit (and that's without any sort of cache or protective cover - which I wouldn't risk given my toppling track record).
