Heavy Battery Usage/Battery Safety Question

I'm planning a touring trip on my Juiced CCX, and for some days of the trip I calculated I will need a battery capacity of 1200-1400 watt hours to get to my destination, which is just slightly above my bike battery's 1000 wh capacity. I was thinking of fast-charging my battery at a restaurant when I stop for lunch, so my schedule would look something like this:
  • Bike ~3 hours @ 15mph
  • Stop and charge battery @ 8 amps for 1 hour
  • Bike ~3 hours @ 15mph
I would then rinse and repeat every day for about 7 days straight. Is the above scenario dangerous at all from a battery health/safety standpoint? I'm just a little concerned about biking for such a long period of time, coupled with the extra heat from fast charging, and not giving the battery a break at all. Should I be concerned about safety here, or are these batteries meant for heavy, sustained use cases like this?

Welcome to the Forum! You've come to the right place to ask questions.

I can't speak specifically about Juiced batteries but I do know from experience that some will accept fast charging better than others. My Pedego battery for example, gets very warm and emits an odor when charged above 6 amps. Repeated fast charging can also shorten battery life in some cases. I would check with Juiced tech support and see what they recommend.

If your battery takes a fast charge without obvious issues , I see no problem with your plan. There are many here who do this on a regular basis.

Is there a reason you can't carry a spare battery while touring? That way, you could charge both overnight.
