Hauling With Tie-down Straps

First post. Just acquired two Euphree bikes. One has an air fork and one has a spring fork. I will be hauling them in a toy hauler and at times in the bed of the truck. Is it OK to cinch them down from the handle bars using the suspension for tension or should I lock out the suspension before cinching them down? I used to haul dirt bikes in the back of a truck when I was a kid and it was never an issue to cinch them down using the front suspension for tension. I just didn't know if it could cause any damage or loss of performance of the forks, for long hauls.

IMO, it isn't likely you would do any damage by compressing the front suspension during transport. Ultimately, it will depend on the quality of the forks. It is possible to bend something when cinching down one side at a time though.

I used these tire straps to transport my motorcycles. They should work on a bicycle as well:
