"Grinding" when using Eco on 2022 Turbo Vado 5.0 IGH?

Hi, sometimes when I use Eco mode on my 2022 Turbo Vado 5.0 IGH, the motor seems to be a bit louder and I can feel slight vibrations that seem to be coming from the motor or hub or something. I seem to recall some others have made mentions of "gear grinding", and I am wondering if what I'm experiencing is the same thing others are experiencing. Does anyone have any information on this issue? Is this something to worry about? Has anyone figured out what is causing it, and can it be fixed? Should I try to avoid this happening, or it is safe for the bike?

Have you purchased your Turbo Vado from a local bike shop? If so I suggest taking your bike in for inspection. The only time I experienced anything resembling "grinding" was when I bent my front ring. The tolerances between the front ring and the frame are very tight.

The grinding I’ve felt is severe enough that you wouldn’t mistake it for anything else… think trying to shift a normal chain derailleur bike while pedaling really hard (which is basically what is happening inside the IGH, albeit with different mechanics). But it only happened when I was first learning to ride the auto IGH and was pushing it like a regular bike. Now I just take it easy and haven’t felt it since :)

Ok, thanks

I just want to second the “it’s probably normal”. I still hear it occasionally when I start pedaling quickly after the bike shifted way down because I am coasting. If you ease into pedaling, it won’t happen. It’s just the automatic catching up to the gear you need. If you add the gear ratio to your screen, you can see it happen visually as well. It typically happens when it’s more than 4 “gears” away from the right one and it tries to catch up quickly.
