Hello, everyone! Very glad to find this online community.
Last month, wife and I bought a pair of 2023 Surface 604 V Rooks, our first ebikes. Hooked immediately! The bike infrastructure here in San Diego North County is world-class, and we're only 5 minutes from the beach on 2 wheels. Plan A is to get out of our cars as much as the ebikes will allow.
Once an avid road and mountain biker, now making a comeback 20 years later at 74. Without the ebike, my knees would never have gone along with this scheme -- especially in a place this hilly.
Our 500W Class 2 ebikes have both torque-sensing pedal assist and throttles. Usually pedal at assist levels 1 or 2 of 5, reserving the throttle for starts and quick bursts of speed in traffic, etc. Keeping my knees out of these low-cadence, high-torque regimes keeps them happy.
