COPD is like Alzheimer's. A long, painful process. I still have dreams about my dad on a weekly basis. My dad was on oxygen tanks for about 12 years. The final four months were absolute hell. And my sister is even a registered nurse in surgery.
I think the right bike will materalize in a year. I love running, so I do not mind. The short-cut to the store is along fire roads in a park. I only have that one short-cut. Bikes are allowed in the park. The longer way is on a street too busy to bike on. If the park becomes too sketchy, I may be forced to drive to the store. I have no other use for the bike.
I am just spooked by the cougar(s) in the park. Cougars have been shot before and are well known. All the urban fragmentation of their environment squeezes them into small corridors. Cougar population grew by 9% in Oregon last year. Calif. does not have cougar hunting to control cougar population like Oregon.
I found their tracks twice in the past 2 weeks. I now am very reluctant to run thru the park. We get county alerts on a weekly basis. Usually the cops publish the alert.
I avoided the park today. I ran in then opposite direction owards a new cougar sighting at 9AM (from county officials) ! The cougar sat on someone's porch for 15 minutes. A mother and 2 Cubs were spotted there last Sunday, but unreported.
mule deer only go near the grass field in park, which is adjacent to homes. Today, I learned mule deer avoid cougar habitat. However, I often see a herd of five deer a few blocks away from the park entrance.
I am really upset about people who feed deer. I run past a herd that always lays down in one person's front yard. The deer do not even bother to stand up on their feet when I run by. The deer look at me like they expect me to feed them, or something.
We chased a coyote away. The coyote regularly sits on top of the hill to watch the deer. I see people feed deer in the park. People do not realize that Cougars are opportunistic hunters. The lions will eat from your yard, if you make it convenient. Coyotes do not hide in the brush like Cougars.
