Giant Fathom E+ pedalling enquiry

Hi,

I have recently bought a new Giant Fathom E+ 3 and I am really enjoying it. However, I have noticed that when I turn the crank/chainset clockwise and pedal backwards the chain doesn’t move at all. Is this normal on the Giant eBikes or is something wrong? Please advise

This is a pity because I usually clean the chain by turning the crank backwards and placing a brush with cleaner on the chain and cleaning while the chain is moving when turning the crank backwards.
