Gates belt and winter salted streets.

I live in Chicago. When it snows here salt truck salt the streets, a home owners salt the sidewalks. Even after the snow is gone, salt residue lasts a long time. What effects does riding in those conditions effect a gates belt. Are there any other ebike components that are negatively effected by riding on salted streets and sidewalks. Ed
