Garmin Varia usage on eBikes

I see that Cannondale on the 2022 Synapse (I've got a 2018 model) have integrated a custom Varia into it as well:

This is SUPER cool and great to see manufacturers taking this initiative.

love that horizontal version of it. i haven’t yet seen how integrated specialized’s take is.

Thanks for the information and photo. Great idea. Been looking at this and ways of mounting it on the rack, as I don’t have room on my seat post.

plus with a suspenion seat post it could get crazy. I mounted it on the side of the rack on our tandem.

interestingly, garmin says no, but it seems like many people have tried it and it works.

plus with a suspenion seat post it could get crazy. I mounted it on the side of the rack on our tandem.

We just put a deposit down on a 2022 Synapse 2RLE today for my wife but she was only able to test ride the 3L which doesn’t the Varia radar and display. Should have a better look at it in a week or so when the bike is assembled. The battery is discreetly perched on the lower part of the downtube and can be either charged while it’s on the bike or removed from the mount.

will the Varia radar detect smaller approaching objects like another cyclist

That would be the only reason I would get this. I can hear cars coming and have a rear view to verify. But bikers easily sneak up on me, The other day I was riding down a forested trail when all of a sudden there was a guy next to me passing, then another and another like 20 more in a group I had no idea was there !
