Front derailleur with dual chainrings?

I saw a bike on here somewhere that had this setup and was thinking of doing it to mine. My mid drive has the standard 46 tooth Bafang front sprocket but my original sprocket was a 48 T. I was thinking about going bigger on the front to reduce some wear on the little sprockets in the rear. I still have the Acera front derailleur but that was 3 speed so I was wondering if that could be reused? There's also a potential issue with the location of that shifter because the thumb throttle is there now.
Or have I just had too much Koolaid?

General knowledge posted on here is that only mid-drive that allows for two front chain rings is the Yamaha. If you manage to stuff two chainrings and a spacer in your bafang, more power to you. As front shifters only cost about $28 I wouldn't worry too much about that part of the modification.
Twist throttles are about $12 on ebay. Warning, the connector pinouts are random. Also the selection of connectors is limited; they all have the same thing which won't replace the 2018 model I wore out.
