Here in Vancouver you have to have the factory plate stating that it is an electric motorcycle or you can replace it with your own. As long as it says it is an electric bike. It is legal requirement here in Canada.

You mean BC , most provinces have no such requirement.

Please provide a reference that says this (or any) plate is a legal requirement. I suspect it's more about trying not to get hassled by the police while riding what has been referred to as "mongrel" bikes that look like scooters but have useless pedals that exist solely to meet the legal definition of "bicycle".

I'm in BC and never heard of it and have no intention of using one. I don't see the point of it.

I think there is so much confusion about ebike regulations in Canada and the US and yet everyone believes they know what the actual regulations state. I suggest to everyone to READ the actual regulations and not the opinions of anyone as most of the opinions are wrong.

As a condition of initial sale, all commercially manufactured MACs must have a label stating that the vehicle is a “power-assisted bicycle."

My guess is that this is what the OP is referring to? I've never actually seen a manufacturer attach such a label, though. If the OP was referring to something else, I'd love to be educated about it.
