First Ride on Vado 5

Just had my first ride on Specialized Vado 5.0.
Their commercials say it is you only better. I really felt that. My precious ebike gave me a feeling that I am operating a motor. This one really feels different
Silent and powerful.
Do you get this feeling with your bike?

My 5.0 should be in by next weekend. Can’t wait. Glad you are enjoying it. Which model year did you get? Mine is 2019.

2019. You will loooovvveee it.
I just sold my $3000 ebike to buy this.
I had test ride the 6.0 and fell in love with it.
My wife didn’t let me buy that as it was too expensive.
My heart was still with Vado.
I finally couldn’t do it anymore. Got lucky selling the other on month old ebike (not easy to sell).
I think I made one of the best decisions. The ride on Vado is incredible. Liked you riding a regular bike and the power comes from you and not the bike.
Worth every expensive penny.
Good luck and please share your experience.

A couple of months ago I rode with a guy who was on a Vado 4.0. I was on my light carbon road bike (17.5 pounds), so I thought I'd leave him behind once we exceeded his 32 kph motor cut-off.
Boy, was I wrong.
On a long straight section, which was basically flat, he was able to keep up with me while we rode in the 35 kph range. Even though his motor was no longer putting out any watts, he was able to keep up.
The only time I was a able to pull away from him was on a slight downhill, where he ran out of gears. When we hit a hill he was gone.......
I took the bike out for a spin and was VERY impressed. MUCH better than my Pedego Ridgerider.

Fully agree. Did the same thing with my son this weekend.
He is a good rider and on Specialized
Tarmac.
I had him on incline and flat.
Will be testing it again with him soon.
I am not a speed demon but it feels good to be able to keep up with young riders at my age of 67 with bad knee.

I took the computer monitor off from my old ebike which was the only way to start the battery and motor. This gave some sort of secure feeling that some one could not ride a 50+ pound bike and they had to carry it. That along with the lock was a good thing to have.
Vado’s monitor is not removable as it is hard wired. The battery has a start/power button so someone can start it if you have locked the bike somewhere.
I wish they some sort of security like disabling the motor with a passcode.
I realize you can remove the battery but it is kind of cumbersome. At least for now as the bike is new and the seals are very tight.
Any ideas!??

Just installed Mission Controls App. Easy to install and follow. Not sure if I will be using it anytime soon.
Preset stuff is good for me for now.
Wish it could disable the motor and/or battery as a security measures.
This could be used when you have a quick grocery run to slow down thieves (realize it would not deter).

Yesterday I was riding with my rider son on Pacific coast hwy. a professional looking rider who was speeding by gave me a warm hello gesture.
When we came home my son showed me the rider’s profile on Strava. He apparently was coming back from his 100 miles daily practice run.
He was indeed a professional biker and famous in California.
Why can’t all bikers be kind to ebike folks?
We mean no harm and doing our thing.

I recently got a 2020 Vado 3.0. The Class 3 PAS system is perfect, it really does feel like a better you just riding a bike. Haven't driven the car in a week. :p

Rode 36.6 miles today mostly on turbo mode couple of climbs and windy.
battery went down to 5% which at that time the turbo assist cut off. I made it home on Eco mode as I was close enough to home anyway.
First time used all the battery capacity.
still have a little issue with assist not responding for a split second and then working.
will have it checked this week to ensure torque sensor works properly.
