Electric assist a Delta Trike rear wheel

Hi
We have 2 Sunseeker Delta Trikes with 20" wheels. We mount them on the back of our van on a Atoc rack, side by side, using the front forks, which lock into a bar at the top.
We ride these in tandem, hooked together, with me in front and my wife behind. Whether she pedals or not, we can go quite nicely when it's flat.

I want to electrify my Delta, but I need to do it on the rear wheel, because if I do it to the front wheel, I have to go through the hassle of removing it each time I mount the bike on the rack. And I understand there are a lot of things I have to disconnect, needing tools, etc., each time I do this.

So I either need:
1. An easy on-easy off front wheel electric assist wheel that pops off about as easily as a non electric-assist wheel
or
2. A rear wheel electric assist, that stays on at all times, since the rear wheels stay on the trike when I mount it on the rack.
Any ideas?
thanks
Richard

I think you have a more serious issue with the total weight you want to move with a single motor. What is the combined weight you move now? Two trikes with two adults is a lot! You are going to build a lot of heat in the one controller, have limited battery range, and likely overload the motor. You are also going to add a fair amount of weight to one trike for loading onto the rack. Are you capable of lifting another 15 pounds added on the trike? There is only one wire , the torque arm fastening, and the axle nuts, to remove a hub motor wheel.

To motorize the two rear wheels on the front trike, so you have 2-wheel drive, Grin Tech make an axle adapter for their All Axle motor which would work for single side stub axle application, and either a dual controller shunt or a dual throttle cable splitter so you can run both motors off one Cycle Analyst or one throttle. Grin use ferrofluid to help with motor cooling and heavy duty mosfets in their Infineon controllers.
