Eco vs Eco+ confusion

Hi all. I'm doing my research for my first e bike and am interested in the Trance E+ 1 Pro.

I am seeing people refer to Eco assist level and Eco+ level. What is the difference and how would I know which one I am using if I have the RideControl ONE controller?

Eco is one led on the pad.
Eco+ is 2 led's on the pad
normal - 2
sport- 4
sport+ - 5

The amount of assist is somewhat adjustable for each level with the RideControl app.

I ride both of my bikes almost always at level 3, with good range. At 4 it uses quite a bit more battery. At mostly 2 you'll get more range.

The vertical row of lights on the left are the assist levels, adjustable with the up and down buttons. On the right is the battery level indicator as a percentage of charge.
The button at the bottom edge is the 'walk-assist' mode - will drive the bike at walking speed should you need/want to push it.

This is a generic pdf manual on sync-drive that might provide additional information for you: https://dstqaa92re5c4.cloudfront.net/Manuals/e-Bikes/Giant/E-bike user manual V66 EN.pdf

This is what the app looks like on your smart phone should you wish to utilize it.
Notice the assist levels have different names. I don't bother trying to remember them, just levels one thru five.

On the Shimano drive they have three levels - eco, normal, turbo. Each manufacturer has different names for everything.
For 2020 model year there's a new 'auto' mode. There are additional sensors for grade that adjusts the amount of assist automatically. There are also three levels of sync-drive for the various bike models, and not all of them have all the features. The 'pro' or in yamaha terms, the PW-X - has the most power and most features, found mostly on faster bikes, roadies and mtb's.

Thank you. And I see now why I was confused. In my mind "Eco+" would mean the most economical not level 2. And then on the phone app they don't show Eco +. It's called "Basic". I like your idea: Forget names and use 1-5. That works for me.

Have you played with the "Automatic" mode? Did it work for you? I read one review and he said he thought it was a nice balance of "set and forget" and manually going through the assist levels.

I have not - none of mine have it - all three are 2019's.
It was an effort to compete with Specialized - they have a pretty cool 'auto mode' on their mtb's. I probly would have gotten one, a turbo levo comp, but gee, three grand saved is three grand earned, right??? 😁

I tested a 2020 LaFree E+ 2 last week using the 'auto' function and it worked great especially on hills in Portland (OR). It adjusted well to what I was doing and I felt very comfortable with it. I plan on getting one shortly.
