Thomas, guys struggling to repair their own bikes ARE lacking experience, are many times short on confidence (and maybe a little patience). I would encourage them to take the time to figure out what the problem is, and ask a LOT of questions if necessary. If they stay at it long enough, that experience level builds at an exponential rate (as well as their confidence) - and includes the ability to source parts. Google is about the best there is (you know that!), but you need to be careful making sure both you and the supplier are on the same page when talking about a part in question. Fire off an e-mail if you need to.I must be missing something. We often hear from riders of budget bikes not able to find many direct replacement parts. I experienced this doing support as well.
Astute builders like HarryS yourself and others have a wealth of experience and expertise but many of us want to ride and not struggle to source parts. I guess I’m just not a positive as you. But as always respectful of your views!
Speaking on a personal level, but pretty sure Harry will agree, I'll answer pages of questions with pages of help - IF - I think somebody is trying. I think many of us have seen you doing the same thing....
Bottom line though, you need to be willing to get your hands dirty. For some that's an issue. In my mind, that's what warranty is for.....
