e-rad Giant Toughroad SR1 1000w 48v 14ah

Originally, I anticipated a downtube mounted battery, but the builder planned a rear rack mounted battery all along.
At first, I was a little held back, wanting the lower center of gravity, but with the ability to have the additional amperage and some storage capabilities that the rack offers sold me. Carrying a bike lock also had me concerned early in the build process, which I really hadn't figured out. The rear rack will resolve that and I can now use the downtube for a water bottle.
The bike is a hardtail and will be used mainly for traveling distance on paved surfaces with the ability to take off road.

Pete, congrats on your bike. I too recently bought a lectriccycles bike from Chris, fun guy. Also I am in your neighborhood, live in Concord, Ca. I go Mountain biking on trails behind my house, lime ridge, between border of Concord / W.C.off of Ignacio Rd. U have 1000 watts, wow, plenty of power, eh? I would like to meet you someday, perhaps go bike riding, awesome bike trails and scenery. I have the Origin 8 fat tire bike, 750watt, 13amp battery, nuvinci hub, load w/ features. I would suggest, on your bike, u put some torn resistant slim inside your inner tubes, I had 2 flats in September, 2015, first got my bike. I get 20 miles on pas 3/4, what about u. Are u enjoying riding ur bike? Later.

Hey @sal,

I've really enjoyed the bike so far. My work schedule is grueling these days and I'm not able to commute as often as I had planned. I'm making up for it with weekend and evening rides. As far as the range I am usually in pas 1/3 on mostly paved roads. My commute is 22 miles each way and I've completed a 30 mile ride around Crocket/Martinez. I've never drained the battery and usually have 1/4 to 1/2 a charge left (I do charge at work). I could ofcourse drain it if used the throttle or pas4/5 too much. Would love to get together and ride Diablo trails.

-Pete
