Originally, I anticipated a downtube mounted battery, but the builder planned a rear rack mounted battery all along.
At first, I was a little held back, wanting the lower center of gravity, but with the ability to have the additional amperage and some storage capabilities that the rack offers sold me. Carrying a bike lock also had me concerned early in the build process, which I really hadn't figured out. The rear rack will resolve that and I can now use the downtube for a water bottle.
The bike is a hardtail and will be used mainly for traveling distance on paved surfaces with the ability to take off road.
