Hello everyone. I own a Dost drop Chain E bike that I purchased Last August. I really enjoy the Bike. As you are probably aware Dost is now in Receivership and have left owners out in the cold when trying to order parts. I spent two weeks researching where to get the primary in tube battery and the secondary battery which extends its range. I just wanted to let you know there is a company In the US called American Electrics. I ordered both batteries from this Company. They make batteries for most E bikes and they use Panasonic batteries internally. They are cheaper than Dost. Dost sourced their batteries from China. The owner said the china batteries have a useable life of three years. His batteries last 5-6 years. My Bike was shipped from Dost with a 2.5 year old battery. American Electrics makes each order on the day you order. I hope this helps Dost owners with dead batteries and don’t know where to get them

Thanks, Bobbo... I am in the same boat you are in. I have the Dost Kope Chain. and have been researching where to get batteries. from. I will check out American Electrics... Do they have the mounting brackets for the piggyback battery with the correct connector pin?

If you google "American Electrics" like I did, you won't find what your looking for. Always good when someone finds a helpful business or website, to link it directly, like this: https://www.american-electric.co/ Regardless, good job by the OP, @Bobbo to find a business that looks like they can help alot of folks out. That's step one. Step two is performance of the battery after the sale is made and it's overall reliability and performance! :)

It appears they are capable of servicing every brand. Except the usual gang of proprietary batteries from Brose, Bosch, Yamaha and Shimano.

they are going to solder the proper connector to the optional battery. Most batteries on the internet only have 2leads

I am in the same situation as you. What model batteries did you order? I too am interested in getting a new tube battery and an external frame battery for my Drop chain model. Thanks!

I spoke with Mike at American Electric... They have both the Dost Post Battery and the Piggyback Battery (with the mounting bracket and correct plug) -- "Both" being 14Ah, a total of 28Ah. Dost batteries are 14&11Ah. Mike is a very knowledgeable guy and knows all about Dost going into receivership. He also said the only thing that would stop them from making the Dost replacements, is that now that Dost is not purchasing the battery cases anymore, they don't know how much longer the battery cases will be available. So I am going to order the 2nd battery so I have it if I need it.
Also, they don't show the piggyback battery on their website; you need to call and talk to order that one.

Thanks, Bobbo! After reading your post, I spoke with Mike from American Electrics this week and ordered both batteries. They are making a main battery for me (I chose the higher power of the two options), and I am going to send my piggyback battery to them to have them use the case and outfit it with new cells, which is less expensive than having a new one made and then uses my existing connector. Lifesaver, Bobbo! Thanks!

Just ordered the two batteries. Thanks!
Hi. I placed an order with Mike from American Electric for the two Dost batteries, but I have subsequently tried to get in touch with him and had no reply. I am not TOO worried, but I wanted to ask if you got your batteries and felt all went well with dealing with them. Thanks!

Hey Bobbo...
The short answer is No. I know I have been threatening to for the last month or so, but I was trying to decide if I really needed one. So far, I wouldn't have needed one this year, but I wanted it for the "Just in case" circumstance. Anyway, the real reason I haven't done so yet, is that I started to read the buyer reviews... and they weren't flattering. When I purchased my Dost Kope, two months later, they were out of business, so I am now gun-shy about spending money on a battery from a company that sounds sketchy, at best. But, there are not a lot of manufacturers that build Dost batteries, especially the 2nd battery for the downtube.

Although, I can probably find another battery pack that would fit the size & power requirements, but I would still need that special connector plug that I can't seem to find.

We do have replacement batteries for DOST - the 48V, 14Ah version. A customer walked into our office yesterday and we found that our photon mini battery (48V, 14Ah) works perfectly with Dost.
The BMS for this battery was designed by us to meet UL-2271 standard and we use 3-pin charging port which can handle 4A charging compared to 2A pin that came with DOST.
We also found that DOST chargers are 2A.

I have been waiting 4 months for secondary battery. The hold up has been the secondary chorobi connector. I talked to Mike today and the connectors have arrived from china. He says I should have my battery next week. 754 226 9308 is Mikes cell. Call him

Hello Ravi... I went to your Site and couldn't find the battery you wrote about. If you have the battery does it have the correct plug needed to hook up with the Dost bike?

It’s been 5 months since I placed an order for new secondary batteries..I received them yesterday by UPS. The build quality was excellent. The connector they installed was the correct on. There is only one way it can be inserted into the dost frame. I could not push it in by hand. I used a little hammer persuasion and voila its in. This morning I went for a 70km ride and returned with 54% charge. The route I chose had many big hills. I am happy. They now have 150 connectors in stock.

Yes, we have a battery (internal tube version) that works perfectly with DOST downtube.
The auxiliary battery used by DOST is a bit different. If there is enough demand, then we make it available but we know exactly how it is designed and the communication protocol.
