Does Anybody Sell a Lithium Battery Pack With a Built-in USB Connector?

I am already using the USB connector on my bike battery to run my GPS. I would like to have a small sized rechargeable lithium battery pack with a USB connector that I would be able to connect a headlight to. Does such an animal exist?

I also just use a USB splitter cable on my bike that doesn't have the second USB port on the display. Works fine for my phone and a simple auxiliary headlight. Might be limited though if your headlight is a power hog.

And there's bicycle-centric ones like this that mount on your water bottle cage holders. I know I've also seen one that is the size of a water bottle to drop in an existing bottle holder, and you could make that with a cheap bank and a cheap bottle.

Why not get a light with a built in battery that recharges via USB? There are many on the market with varying prices. That way, you won't be concerned about over powering your USB wiring or connector. If you get one that detaches from the bike, it could be used as a portable flashlight. Very handy if you have a breakdown at night.

That's a pretty puny powerbank you tried. What is your light wattage? I presume it's an LED light?

Most USB 3.0 ports provide 5V and up to 4.5 watts. Some powerful lights can easily exceed this capacity. This will depend on the controller if the USB port on the bike is used. It is possible to get up to 5 amps from the USB hardware if an external battery is used as a source. To get this capacity, the USB port and cable must be rated to handle this current. Many cables on the market will not work.

So you meant "overload". This makes sense.

@ Arcon - You might try one of these small solar power packs. I've used this one for quite some time to power a small fan on camping trips just to add some air movement in the tent. It should work equally well to power a GPS. This is just one version, but there are literally dozens of these on Amazon re-branded under different names.

You could use a cordless power tool battery with one of these USB adapters:

This one is for a DeWalt battery but similar adapters are available for other brands as well.

I carry it with one of my 5 AH DeWalt tool batteries. It's built in flashlight already saved my bacon when I threw a chain during a night ride.

Here are a few options to start hunting (Second one looks like Uma's model):
They are meant to be a primary battery for a home build, so not cheap. You could make a light version with a big HD USB power bank and a water bottle for maybe $50.

And just in my own experience, Anker stuff is pretty reliable for high-output applications. I have a bunch of Anker stuff on my PC's and in my motorcycle power kit. Their cables are quite capable of handling the draw of any larger USB device as well.

Because I have an iPad, iPhone, bike lights, and other devices that need charging I found a 4 18650 cell power module and prefer using it over my battery packs. I also have a 2 cell version.
