Conversion to stationary bike

Sorry for the long absence, I have been busy reading and talking to bike shops. It has been confirmed that stationary bike adapters are not available at a reasonable price. The "roller trainer" requires a good bit of steadiness and relatively high wheel rotation speed to keep it on the track. At my age, I won't be able to do either. I am going to have to get a "stationary bike" setup where it will hold me upright.

Thank everyone for your input. It was very helpful. I now know what I have to get.

This wouldn't work for your bike? I've had a similar trainer for many years, it is very stable. QR axle isn't required but I'm not sure if it would work on a hub motor with the cable exiting from the end of the axle though (haven't tried). They can be very loud. A dedicated exercise bike is better IMO.

I used something very similar to what @EMGX showed above. But mine was an old trainer stand in the garage that I hadn't used for many years. I took my old road bike and set it up in front of the TV, and now I try and use it at least some of the time I am wasting exercise time in front of the screen.

A trainer like this won't work with a motor whose cable exits straight out of the axle.

The difficulties of doing this with a 20" bike have already been well gone over above. You would be far better off with an inexpensive analog bike that you connect to a stationary trainer. Far better off means you will be able to have something to ride indoors vs. nothing, which I am afraid is where this is going if you try and re-use the Lectric.
