i'm looking at two very similar bikes. in fact it is the same bike but with some refreshed components.

from BESV

the models are the JS1 and the JS1 advance

the things that are unknown as of now

are they the same price? (i have sent emails-waiting for answer)

if they are, maybe the older model will be discounted. but how much are the new upgrades worth?

don't know about the 9 vs 10 speed but i do like the hydraulic brakes.

The hydraulic brakes are worth getting.
9 vs 10 speed, is dependent on how/where you bike.
Also, 9 speed chains can be slightly stronger.

So far from some online searches I see the newer model is 300 bucks more. But looks like it comes equipped with a rear rack as well.

if that is how it shakes out. i think it is worth it.

the catch is if the new bike is on sale same as the old bike. besv has a deal for people who attended a bike expo recently but this bike wasn't on the market at that time. worst case scenario if the new bike isn't on sale then it will be 800 dollars more instead of 300.

if 300 i would opt for the updated bike. if 800. not so sure. thoughts?

$800 is a lot for a rack, brakes and a gear. The rack and hydraulic brakes you can add onto the cheaper bike for a lot less than $800. A $300 hike is okay I would say but $800 is a bit much.
