Charles McCormick, owner of Washington, DC, e-bike shop ElectriCity Bikes, has passed away and the shop is as a result temporarily closed. Charlie helped sponsor the 2020 screening at Arlington Cinema & Drafthouse of the Motherload documentary, and in March this year he testified to the DC Committee on Transportation and the Environment about the proposed DC resident e-bike incentive. Kyle Waller from ElectriCity Bikes appeared in some of Court's review videos around 2020. Charlie was an advocate for family cycling in the District of Columbia. Condolences to his family and friends.

[ no Man is an island] the "pioneers such as Chas will be missed( have a Cyrus McCormick about 10 miles up the road, yes one of His ancestors invented the "Mechanical reaper".

FWIW, the notice on the web site is that the closing is temporary. Perhaps, like with a restaurant under renovation that never reopens?

I don't know if Charlie was sole proprietor, or if he was in partnership whether his business partner does not want to buy out the business. This announcement is from someone on staff so it looks as though DC has lost its largest independent e-bike dealer. The DC resident e-bike rebate bill recently passed out of the Transportation Committee, it will be a fitting tribute to Charlie if DC Council was to vote to pass the bill when they reconvene in September.
