Heh guys,
Was wondering if anyone knows if i can replace my Shimano e5000 fitted on a merida espresso bike with one of the more powerfull motors? If the screws are the same and would possible fit

I recently did that on my bike. The DU-E6100 has the same bolt pattern as the e5000 except the wiring is on the left side instead of the right side like the e5000. You will need to verify that your computer is compatible with the e6100. The e5000 has a square tapered shaft so you will need a new chainring and crankarms plus the plastic motor covers. I purchased everything off of eBay and verified part numbers from the Shimano web site using the compatibility document from Shimano.

Thank you very much, i was suspecting it was possible, i also think it,s even posible to go up to ep8 motor as i tryied to compare the mounts on the offcial photos and they look symilar. Does the plastic cover come in two pieces? When i search on ebay it only shows one side and i know it’s made out of two parts. Also by compatibility with the computer you mean the cockpit display?

By computer I mean the cockpit display. I had the SC-E6100 display with blue tooth, worked with no issues. I bought the "trekking" version (SM-DUE61-T) of the motor cover which was actually 3 pieces. Chain ring was part number SM-CRE61 38T, Crank Arms FC-E6100. I used STunlocker app to change the wheel circumference to 29".

Was it worth the change? 20nm more?

It's a noticeable difference and I enjoy the extra power but I'm not sure if it was worth the money, approx. $475usd. If your e5000 is having issues, do it!
