changing my bars to just get a decent mirror.

I liked the butterfly bars on our tandem but I could not find a good mirror. the little guy was fine when it was light out but in the dark or rain it was worthless. I didn't to want to go back to a straight bar because I need good bar tape as my hands get toasted on rubber grips when I do 250 miles a week. If I have to remove anything the bar tape gets trashed. at 40.00 that gets expensive. but I should not have to change anything out in a long time. I shorted the bar to 22" as I liked the shorter bars on the tandem when going slow it makes it less twitchy and I have better control. of course I had last the bar I took off and I accident bought one of the huge new ones the 35mm size. of course I had cut it to length before I tested it.
the only real problem is the star nut I installed in the stem extension to mount my garmin stripped and I could not tighten the bolt or remove it. so I need to grab saw air work and cut off the extra and cut the bolt off. good bar tape is softer then any grip I could find and I only need two hand positions. I am not sure if this miser goes out enough I may have to use the better mirrycle but that one always gets bumped as it sticks out so much.

You could place a Mirrycle below the bar and inside. It has worked for me for two years on all my e-bikes.

I cannot show a picture at the moment.

Fairney Brook, Queensland

Steve, my 2019 Homage Rohloff's intrusion in this photo is out of focus, but it shows what Stefan is referring to. The mirror is 'out of harm's way'; for example, from that century-old concrete bridge foundation on the right.

(The photo was taken on Friday to show my Facebook-based TOP Cycling group that the Fairney Brook was safe to cross, despite official officious warning signs to the contrary put up by bureaucrats.)

ya was thinking that. my hand was hitting it if it was upright. I have not ridden it with a minor yet so I will test it. it will need to be in the out position to see around both of us with such short bars though.
