Brose Como motor propels without pedaling? Problem

I have Como 2.0 ebike that occasionally propels on its own without pedaling. This is a pedal assist only ebike…what would cause this to happen?

I can even get off the bike and have it set to the lowest motor setting and the ebike takes off on its own - no pedaling.

Is this problem with software? Controller? Motor? Has anyone experienced or heard of this?

Thank you

I had this happen with a 2015 Turbo S. The torque sensors were built into the hub motor, not repairable and I had to have the motor replaced. Your system is more modular and a Specialized LBS should be able diagnose. Hopefully it's just a dirty or repairable sensor.

I noticed this happening to my 2018 Vado 6 when there was 11k miles on this motor. It was only a few more hundred miles and the motor failed on a long climb 17miles out. Ouch! Specialized says these motors are good for about 10,000 miles. I've replaced 2 other motors for high mileage and the cost was $200 each time. This time it's $1200. Additionally, the wired assist button malfunctions and replacement will be $250!

You need to visit a Specialized LBS for diagnosis. It is not a normal behaviour of the motor!
