Brompton E-bike Recall

A friend alerted me to this:

Brompton's Electric bike is being recalled in the US due to an acceleration bug - Engadget

The US Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) has recalled 600 Brompton electric bikes in US over a software bug that can cause the vehicle to unintentionally accelerate.

One of the liabilities a manufacturer carries when selling E-bikes with batteries is the possibility of recalls in the case Li-ion battery or motor acts up.

I am glad Brompton is fixing this issue and helping customers.

Thanks for sharing! Good to see Brompton making it right instead of trying to sweep it under the rug. Interesting that the firmware update to fix it also unlocks the bike's Bluetooth functionality... so many companies are jumping on the bandwagon with custom smartphone apps!
