I picked up my black Ride Scoozy Veego 750 yesterday. When I arrived, it was fully assembled with a charged battery. The Scoozy rep went over the features and controls with me and after a test ride around the large and mostly empty parking lot, I loaded it on my carrier. I was really surprised at how easy it was to push it up the ramp and secure it with four six foot straps. No problem at all for an old man to do it alone.
Before heading home, we stopped for lunch at a beach front restaurant. After lunch, while waiting for my wife in the parking lot, two different people stopped and asked questions about the bike. From what I have read (mostly on this forum), that is something I will just have to get used to. The trip home was uneventful, mostly at freeway speeds (75-80 MPH), and the rack handled the bike very well. On the way home, we stopped at our LBS to buy a helmet. As much as I want to support our LBS, they are making it difficult. They apparently cater to the spandex crowd all the way down to the in-house specialty coffee shop. This was the second helmet I have bought there, but when I asked about service I got a brief lecture on why I should have bought the bike from them. They do not even offer the type of ebike I needed.
When I got home, the bike was just as secure as when I loaded it. It took less than ten minutes to unload the bike, remove the rack, and store it in the garage. I have not yet ridden the bike on the road. My more immediate need is taking it to the woods next weekend. I did spend quite a bit of time practicing slow speed maneuvers in my yard. Fortunately, I have a fairly large yard with lots of trees and some elevation changes to simulate riding where I hunt. Getting to my hunting area requires lots of sharp turns and elevation changes. I have been working on riding between trees barely wide enough for the handlebars to fit and then making an immediate 90 degree turn. Even PAS level 1 is too fast for some of the maneuvers I will be making. So far, I think 0 PAS and low gear with throttle assist works best. Any suggestions on other ways to prepare would be appreciated.
So far, I really like the bike. The Bafang 750W is louder than I expected, but the only thing I have to compare it to is my wife's 250W whatever on her GoPlus 20. I figured out why they call them "Hard Tail" bikes. Just riding around the yard was definitely hard on my skinny tail. It did make me appreciate the front suspension. I will probably lower the pressure in the rear tire to see if that helps.
Pics of the bike and where I was riding yesterday are attached.
