I recently replaced my brake pads and it seems I lost the allen key pad 'adjuster'....Its a metal cylinder that pushes the pads closer to the rotor...

I have no idea what its called so I cant replace it by my google terms :/

are they mechanical or hydraulic ? If the later just loosen the 2 mount bolts . GRAB THE lever . while holding tighten mount bolts . it's simple If mechanical isn't the Caliper adjuster mounted to the brakes ? You use an allen or torx bit wrench For Mech Brakes Here:

Maybe go to the Brake Manufacturers web page and see what the part is . Then find it online . With just a quick check it appears there are slightly different models depending on brake manufacturer Just looking at a few videos Looks as though the part must be specific to the brand

Unfortunately from what I have search tektro does not sell this part seperately.

If that is for your Lectric, send them an email and I'm sure they will steer you in the right direction. I needed a new rubber cover for my battery and I had one in my mailbox in 3 days...

I hope so, it seems if they dont have the part I am thinking I might have to just buy new ones or search ebay for a set of used ones. Bleh :/

you have cables right? Can't you just loosen the bolts pull the cable tighter? I've done mech brakes The tool you refer to isn't generic . Plus they are part of the brakes themselves . I'm guessing you can't find the part because yours somehow broke off . //////???????????????////

I think it just plain fell off, I dont think I had it in very much from when I replaced the pads...So after a ride or two my pads all of a sudden felt weak, checked back there and the 'screw' was missing.

sounds like you are stuck buying new brakes . Fortunately 1 at a time works . You ride in the woods /trails ? I've lost parts doing so many a times

You're on the right track. Avid calls it a 'pad adjuster' or 'pad adjuster knob'. I've seen listings for the Avid mechanical brakes.

You might ask Jenson if they can get one for Tektro. Or call around to local bike shops, they might have a used one from calipers that were upgraded to hydraulic.

if you can find the right thread pattern and size You could make one . But you probably would not be able to replicate how you tighten.loosen it.
looks like you snug it or back it off and that pushes the pads ? it could be done probably simple . Finding the thread pattern is the hard part .

Crap, now you've got me running to look at my quad piston Tektros. Hmmmm, don't see such an animal. Maybe this is your excuse for that brake upgrade you've maybe been thinking about.

Yeah I was thinking, maybe I could 3d print the thing? But then I realized I was way in over my head as I only know basic 3d modeling.

I am pretty sure Lectric can not help as its not within warrenty as listed in their manual.

I got lucky and found a used Tektro brake caliper that was the exact model match on ebay for 25 bucks. I guess it looks like I am paying 25 bucks for the pad adjustment screw.

It may only work as a one way you can't adjust thing. But I would bet it's a universal thread . Probably metric .Or you could get a machine shop to make. By the time you did that you may as well get New brakes . Not cheap though

We plugged these in to the XP and they work great...

UPDATE: Lectric has replied and offered to send me 2 pad adjustment screws on the house.

Props to their customer service!
fyi on the install....
They should screw in far enough and be snug enough to not fall out even with new pads. If for some reason it's not, you may want to add a drop of medium duty (blue) thread lock to the threads being careful not to put any where it could get on the pads

Yeah this was my first brake pad change/install so now I know what not to do...leave the pad screw a bit too loose :p
