As you probably know by now, Bosch does not sell ebike motors directly... neither does Yamaha for that matter, though Brose does. The only way to get a Bosch motor is to sign up to become a manufacturer. Their small volume distributor is Universal Transmissions... yeah, those Gates Carbon Drive sellers. So anyways, you can actually order a motor from them, with a couple of caveats. The first is that you can probably only order one, as to order in volume you need to have your bike certified. The second caveat is that lead times (delays in delivery) are on the order of several months.
Moving on, I have no idea if your CX-controlling bike computer will be compatible with the Speed motor. Guess what, you can download the Bosch software after signing up, but to actually use it, you need to sit through a training course. Makes sense considering you can probably mess thing up with the software.
A better question to ask why you want this in the first place considering that you can turn CX into a de facto Speed with, like, a gozillion dongles that let you enjoy 45kph (or more!), get correct display readout and, at the same time, use Bluetooth to drop back to the street legal 250W/25kph whenever you need to (e.g., when crossing country borders).
Becoming a bike manufacturer has its implications... you start feeling compelled to design custom bike frames and whatnot. Sooner or later you also realize that the stuff you make is too exotic for anyone to ever buy.
Has anyone researched a switch from the Bosch Performance CX to the Speed Motor? Curious if Bosch would allow it and what it might cost.
Thanks
How about a switch in the opposite direction? Can you use software adjustments to produce more torque? (I'm no expert but I suspect not)
Too bad the new system is incompatible with all the current DU.@Midway
Physical speed changes cannot be made. Going from Class 1 to Class 3 (20mph to 28mph) or vice versa is not achievable at the dealer or consumer level. The motor that is spec'd on the bike is what is on it for the lifetime of that bike. With that said, more tuning options from Bosch, eMTB mode, Tour+ mode, eRoad mode on certain drive units coupled with custom riding modes (achievable through the Nyon display on any drive unit) and more customization features upcoming on the smart system.
Why is it too bad? Were you planning a switch?Too bad the new system is incompatible with all the current DU.
You figure it out. Hint: None of the current DUs are compatible. Maybe you like going to the dealer for software updates? No OTA updates will be possible for current DUs. Don't know about the displays. Why is it too bad? Were you planning a switch?
Right. I said no OTA for DU, which you confirm. I note however, that for the smartphone hub, it's been a long time since there's been an update. No bug fixes, such as the one where navigation stops when one is in the fitness screen.OTA updates are available for the Kiox, Nyon and Smartphone Hub. Drive Units and batteries will be updated at the dealer.

Have you tried to reproduce it yourself? (I'm on the road for two weeks, so have no access to my bike...) What is the date of the last update?I have seen you write about this issue in other threads. It is not a common issue I have heard of---are you able to screencast what happens on your mobile device?
There have been regular updates for the Cobi.Bike app on both Apple and Android devices.
