Bosch smart system not so smart?

I have the non smart 2022 bosch with a nyon display. Am I wrong but is there way fewer options on the smart display?
I read that the smart system doesn't have GPS. Did I get this wrong?
I feel the the smart system display is a major back step. I know it's about integration and stuff but those things are behind the scenes. What I interact with is more important when I'm riding.
Can I set up custom riding modes on the smart system?
What else is missing with thus upgrade?
I know new to bosch customers won't know but I plan to upgrade in 2 years and I hope I'm not forced into a less featured system. I like toys.

you will have different displays for the new system you can go from no display a kiox or a smartphone and I think maybe a nyon. but as usual it will take awhile for Bosch to get the features out. I am pretty sure you can edit the modes the smart remote doe most of the heavy lifting for the system.

The Smart system is a work in progress right now. Even though it was announced over a year ago, companies like Trek don't seem to have widely adopted it.
As of today, Bosch doesn't even offer navigation on the Kiox display. They say "Available in the future.", whatever that means. Hopefully the SmartPhone Grip, which does offer navigation, is an improvement over it's predecessor, cobi.bike.

My take on the Smart System is that it reminds me a lot of software "vaporware" that was common a few years back. It's movement into the market, bikes with it that we can buy, and filling out the product line seem glacial. Not sure why?

I'm not sure about the so called upgrade as I didn't have the older model, but there is no navigation & you can only customize 2 riding modes the turbo & eco modes.
I'm new to the new generation of bike computers. My new bike has the Bosch smart system with the 300 Kiox display paired with the Mondraker ride app. Overall I really like the Bosch system features of speed, time, cadence, power input, calorie count, ride distance, battery %, est. range in different modes, ride summary ect. Navigation isn't something I'll probably ever need on the bike but if I do I can just use a ride app on the cell phone.
I'm sure Bosch left out some tech to hit a price point per bike manufactures requests.
My wife has been searching for a computer display similar to the Bosch for Her 2021 giant Stance & for a decent one pricing starts at about 250.00 all the way to 800.00 bucks. My point is quality & features/tech come at price. Maybe I'm wrong but I think the majority of buyers like to see there money spent on frames, motors, batteries, components, suspension & display features are down on the pecking order.

Just to let you know: Giant e-bikes support LEV ANT+ protocol. Bike GPS computers: Garmin Edge and Wahoo ELEMNT work wonderfully with Giant e-bikes. Not that a bike GPS computer is cheap but it surpasses any Giant display in any context. Adding GPS navigation.

My bike shop is in the process of putting together order for 2023. The smart system is not compatible with rolhoff hubs, there is so many features missing from the smart system it hard to justify ordering it especially when it's being placed on ax12k riese and muller bike.
You can't say to the customer that these features will roll out later. The architecture is missing so it's not as easy as getting a software update.
I think bosch is sugar coating a far inferior product. My dealer said they can order the no smart for maybe another year but if they can't offer rolhoff or vari hubs they won't be able to sell the high dollar bikes.
I hate vaporware. I don't believe in promoting and selling crippled hardware is cool.

Look at the idiots that pay 10k for software from tesla. They are not promising any time for delivery. Tesla just raised the buy in price to 12k I think scaring the customer to think if the software does come out it will cost 15k or more if you didn't buy it early. Some people have had their cars 5 years now that they payed 5k for autopilot that is still not working and if you did pre pay tesla uses you as a beta tester.
Anyway I think people need to be aware that the smart system is infact inferior to its predecessor.

well right now the smart system is for e mountain bikes. I bet they ahve a somewhat different system for their other motors. I saw a nyon update numner that could only belong to a new system.

That's why I use ebike connect to plan and upload to the bike. I get detailed range info along with others.
Right now the smart system is not working with any third party apps. At least the current system works.
