Bosch motor not powering up

Hi all, im new to the group, I have a Raleigh Motus which seems to have an intermittent problem. The speedo part of the display will go blank so no number is displayed and the motor wont not engage so I have no power, the rest of the display works and I can select modes etc, but without power. It happened yesterday again on my cycle home from work, I cycled for a mile before my chain came off, i stopped to place the chain back on but then lost power.

I thought maybe the magnet on the wheel spoke or the other part it needs to line up with were perhaps dirty so I gave them a quick clean with a face mask, the only thing I had. Still didn't work, I got back on the bike as the next part of my journey was downhill. Got off again, tried again, gave the display a wiggle, still nothing, then a minute later it came back on again, so I carried on with my journey.

My battery was 3 bars full.

I just wondered if anyone else has experienced this?

So no error code? what display are you using?
check your magnet on the wheel here is a pic of the correct position. the line can be in front or back

Welcome! When you can, use a little spray bottle with some suds to clean the magnet and pickup. And as @fooferdoggie says check the alignment. Then trace the wire from the pickup to check the connector.

Thanks for your reply, nope no error code, the display looks exactly as it should, just without the speedo. It's am Intuvia display. I'll check out the alignment tomorrow but I think it's in the right place. Perhaps I'll carry a small bottle of cleaning fluid with me then to see if it's as simple as that. Hopefully.

It also might be the battery is not fitted properly to the frame and socket. Adjusting and fine tuning the latch so that the battery is properly connected is a job for the shop where you purchased the bike not something to be tinkered with at home. Let them earn the good money you gave them.

Thanks, it's definitely happened before when I've gone over a bump down a curb etc, so could be, that is something else I normally do we the problem happens, I take the battery off and put it back on again.

It sounds more like a battery alignment adjustment issue than a speed sensor thing. It is defintely something that should be done by an experience Bosch tech. A very small adjustment can make all the difference.

I would say its the intuvia mount issue. otherwise he would have no power. my nyon needs taken off every so often or I get wacky things like no speed or not showing my torque or it does not get charged. so take it off an clean the terminals. make sure the wire connections to the mount are solid too.

It looks like the Raleigh Motus has the Purion display which is hard wired into the motor and not removeable from its mount like the Kiox or Nyon. Does your display reside on the left side of the handlebars and about 5cm square with no display on the center of the bars?. If that is the case it is very unlikely not the display and even more likely to be a battery issue.

if so yes. but when I had it on a new bike cleaning the terminals fixed it. but the bike had no power at all.

I've got a central intuvia display, it does slide off so it's a potential for the problem. I'll contact my local dealer today to get the battery cradle looked at.

Remove the Intuvia, turn it over and used a pencil eraser to clean up the contact points on the back of the display and also the corresponding contacts on the face of the mount. Brush off all the eraser crumbles and set it aside to dry throroughly.

If you have been riding in the rain or splashing along on a wet surface with water flying, at the end of the ride it is a good idea to remove the Intuvia and dry it off along with the face of the mount.
