Crashing on a tandem is fun you tend to fall on the bike. me I tend to land on the end of the handle bars this is the second time. I took the hit right in the groin. the first time was more to the middle of leg and hip connection. then my shoulder hurt a lot too. my wife bunged up her leg and or knee she could not walk and she hit her helmeted head a little. her should had a torn spot in her coat and her helmet was scratched a little. but we found out later it was her Bose glasses were pushed into her face that caused the headache. my garmin messaged my daughter so she called she and her hubby came and she took us to urgent care and he grabbed the bike with a friend. well I guess that urgent care does not do imaging so we had to go to the emergency room. they were not busy but we were there from about 6 or so to 10:30 but I have a different lan so she was the only one seen. But I knew there was nothing they could do to help me but ice I cant take pain meds so I am pretty much on my own. they did not really do much for my wife but X-ray her leg and clean her cuts (not deep)
you have not seen anything till you see a blind person on crutches its a bit scary (G) my groin welled up like crazy. I had a ice pack on it all night. but it got worse after I got up so been living with ice on it and it as helped. but not sure if I can walk well enough to go to work tomorrow.
they reinstalled this post and I don't know if I did not see it or as I was checking the surroundings I drifted to the middle of the path I tend to do that when looking around but I think our peddles clipped it as you can see the bent crank arms.
Well I was going to have my son-in-law take it to a local bike franchise but it showed they were temporally closed. they are only 1/2 mile from our house. looks ike they got bought by Trek and wont be open till the 12th. so I planned on using the e bike storeI Bought two of my bikes at. I would have bought the tandem from them but they stopped caring them since no one would buy them till the pandemic hit. but they don't want to work on bikes they have not sold as they are too busy. (the owner was a great guy but I guess he sold it) there is a high end shop by my work farther away I may be able to use. I need to contact them tomorrow.

Oh, sorry to see this, Foofer! There’s a post that is usually laying down along one path I ride, but even the metal base is a couple inches high, enough to cause a real problem if anyone should hit it. I know it’s there but a lot of people don’t, I’m sure. A real hazard.

Hope you guys recover quickly, a while we’re at it, nice job on keeping that chain clean! Looks like it just came from the shop instead of heading back into it

I think why it happened is that my body hates cars and sometimes when I eat them I have noticed while riding I make more mistakes. I have pretty much cut them put but I tend to ear=t them some on the weekend. well I paid the price for that. Nothing like sleeping with ice packs on your groin. poor wife leg is so sore Shen needs crutches to get around, a blind person with crutches is a scary thing the dog runs for his life (G)
This is going to to take awhile to heal. it hurts the most siting so biking is going to be out for awhile. I cant take pain meds so I have been getting far more careful in life. when I took a shower last night it hurt so bad for some reason I almost lost it I was debating on going to urgent care the next day though most likely there is nothing to be done but ice and stretching. Last time we crashed when a dog ran out in front of it got me farther away from my groin and riding made it feel better.

in the second top pictures, I'm not sure but it looks like your disk brake has a bend in it
look at the picture right below the derailleur by the jockey pulley.

ya I did not spin them or anything. trying to find a shop I can get it into. got to get someone to transport it too.

I checked and wheels seem fine. wife's peddle may be shot mine feels ok. a little cracking on the motor housing.
The garmin texted my daughter and my apple watch asked if I fell. its good to have those backups.

finally got the estimate to fix our tandem. 781.00
they had trouble finding the bosch cranks I found them. the peddles need rebuilt so I need to buy the kits for them. they are almost new but they cost about 130.00 a paid.

Hope you get better soon and back up on the horsey. Not sure if I would be riding a tandem with my girlfriend these days. Just hoisting myself around is complicated enough!!

my groin is going to take while the hematoma is still huge. the skin around it is super sensitive but the skin over it is numb. its a weird thing. I can get a few miles a day. I ride to the train a mile then to my shop a mile and a half and maybe a short food run then back. I was able to handle 6 miles to grab some Chinese food. it gets better slowly. my wife cracked her kneecap so she can't walk for a month. She still wants to ride.

I like your spirit and hope you guys heal up fast! The placement of that post is mind blowing and infuriating...unreal, and to think they removed it and then decided it was a good idea to put it back,humans...
