Cops on bikes gets them closer to the community, a greater humanization on both sides...and they’re more likely to treat your bike with respect even if they tase you

Was in downtown Portland a few yeats ago. After a beauutiful 50 miler we went to a local brew pub for dinner. While eating we saw a bicycle mounted officer pull up to the stop sign just outside the window. Within seconds a noisy little car pulled along side and rolled though the stop and took off. 'Amazing' we said outloud, esp considering that the officer's vest had 'POLICE' plastered across the back! The officer pulled the mic off his vest and yelled 'pull over' as he took off in pursuit. The little car pulled over before the end of the next block. The restaurant erupted in applause. Hard to be closer to a community...
