So we are on vacation and I have been wanting bike shoes, the non clip in type. We are in Asheville NC and stopped in a REI store and I bought a pair of 510 shoes, a little less than $60 including tax. They went on sale that day, normally about $109. I looked again on Amazon and it seems like their prices are cheaper now also. I know Amazon plays with prices some. Is this just one of those things at the end of summer they get cheaper or did I just get luck on my timing?

My last pair of road bike shoes lasted 25 years and the pair they replaced I used for 20 years so I do not care about the cost only the fit. When I bought new shoes last year I had to order 7 pairs to get one pair that fit. Part of the problem is having European sizing for the UK that is different than metric sizes in the U.S. and a pair size 44 could be smaller than another pair in size 43 from the same shoe manufacturer.

That’s one reason I felt lucky we traveled somewhere I could actually try some on. I only tried on 3 pair but I have a slight problem where size and feel are critical. I rode with my new pair yesterday and feel they will help with foot numbness and pain. I thought since I’m not walking biking won’t hurt my feet but that is not the case.

End of the year a lot of stores start to put a lot of stuff on sale to "wrap" up this year and start with new stock next year(that's when I'm usually stocking up for next year, got myself like 5 pairs of running shoes from https://rununited.com/ few days ago for a price of like 2). Sounds a bit early, but maybe REI has a good amount in stock, so started early. Hope my local stores get huge sales soon too, I'm in dire need of some boots and new jacket would be nice :D
