Bike Chain oil?

Wondering what kind of chain oil guys are using. Ive been using ballistol, maybe to light? Thank's guy's for any input.

I've been using it on my conventional bikes for years and it works fine on my ebikes as well. It's a dry lube and doesn't attract dirt.

Although I have never used that Dupont chain lube, I don't think using motorcycle chain lube is a good idea on bicycle (or ebike).

I used the Motul C2 Motorcycle chain lube, and what happened was that, although it worked for a while, the lube just got clay-like and I had to scrape it off the sprockets and chain ring.

Motorcycle chain lubes are made to be very sticky, it needs to fight against the centrifugal force, vibration, heat, etc. and it is a lot more heavy duty compare to bicycle lube.

I don't think motorcycle chain lubes are good application for light duty machines like bicycles and ebikes.

You're talking about a totally different product, you can't compare them.

No. Again, why are you comparing motorcycles to bikes? All modern motorcycles use o ring chains. If you do any reading you would know about the Dupont product, the product has won a lot of comparisons. DuPont makes Teflon, it's a dry lube. Every time you post here you do motorcycle comparisons, this is a bike forum.

There has been some debate and questions whether the Finish Line product is actually licensed from DuPont.

I've been using Chain Saver for about 2 years now. Compared to the previous lube I used, Boeshield T9, it collects less dirt and sand on the chain. And what dirt it does collect is easily removed with soap and water if you wash your bike.

I came to like the Aerosol Chain Saver better as it is much easier to direct the Chain Saver onto each link using the thin wand versus the Liquid Chain Saver, which is very, very thin; making you have more chain lube on the floor and not on the chain when you tip the applicator upon the chain link.

As the name applies, it is used for only chains of any variety. It's not recommended to lube cables and such. I usually lube the chain up after every other ride and wipe the chain down and let it sit for a bit. Maybe that's a bit much? Not sure. Still on my first chain after 9000 plus miles on my Haibike Full FatSix, so something I'm doing must be right!

I used Tri-Flow for years and loved it, but after the first ride, the chain was always blackened from roadside dirt and dust and it only got worse from there. This is not the case with Chain Saver.

That's just my .02 cents on the matter. One tends to wind up using what works for them. Chain Saver works for me. Although keep in mind, I'm not out there commuting in pouring rain....
