Bafang ultra error 11 code

I had this issue pop up on my bike this morning, it indicates something is wrong with the internal motor temperature sensor. Along with this is an error 10 code which means motor is overheating. I put my hand on the motor and it is slightly warmer than ambient temp. I was about ten miles from home and I had to pedal it back ( heaven forbid! ) it was giving me a very small amount of assist on way back If I used throttle. My next move will be to open it up to see if I can find anything wrong. I’ve looked and searched and can’t find anything helpful. I’m hoping someone here can help.

There are error code lists for the ultra on this forum somewhere, but until someone knowledgeable jumps in maybe this will help. Keeps the thread alive, anyway.

Over temperature problems should reset when the motor cools.
To know if it is a problem you need to know if you were riding the bike too hard. Many hills in too high of a gear, long rides throttle only in high gears, punching the throttle hard in a high gear or repetitively, anything drawing high current at low speed.... etc...

If you are using throttle while peddling, you may trigger this. Especially if your cadence is slow. Keep up your spin and the Ultra stays cool. Powerful motor is unhappy turning slowly. It creates heat. I try and keep my cadence (spin) 70 revs a minute. That’s what gears are for. And, on the Ultra, it extends battery life too.

Thanks for the reply’s but, I’m sure it didn’t overheat, I have my bike so low geared with a 32 tooth chain ring and I know not to bog it in too high of gear. I was going about 3 mph in lowest gear on flat ground, first thing I did was feel the motor and it wasn’t warm at all. Error 11 is an issue with the internal temp sensor ( that’s what it says right on the dash warning ) from searching, it appears that the sensor is on the circuit board inside the motor and they do go bad. My guess is I will have to replace the CB and that should fix it. I believe the real question now is where can I find one? It’s a biktrix so hopefully they can help me tomorrow when they’re open. Finding parts for this motor isn’t easy, I would think by now they should be readily available.

Agree on starting with the obvious, for some reason I go for the hardest! I can tell some stories on that but, I digress..... I have it all apart and am looking at the circuit boards and don’t see any burnt doflickies. I found a couple of guys that had pictures of burnt circuits ( doflickies) nothing apparent on mine. I checked with sites you mentioned and didn’t see any CB’s. I think I need to get with Biktrix, they’re pretty helpful and might telll me that it’s some sequential pushing of buttons on the control panel to clear it! Probably the first thing I should have done! I wanted to open it anyway to make sure no water is in it. We really push them to the limit and beyond getting around in the woods. From what I understand, repair parts for the Ultra are an issue in general.
Anna @ Green Bike has contacts @ Bafang so sending her an email sometimes yields results. There's a contact form on the website.
But yeah... Contacting Biktrix first seems like a good idea.

Hey Rocket, Biktrix sent me to California ebikes to get a new controller, which they had in stock! So I have to give you a thumbs up for pointing in the right direction. Turns out my controller had some discoloration under the film coating that indicates some water or moisture got under it causing corrosion that may have shorted a circuit. I did find a little water and moisture in it about a year ago from going to deep with it.
