found this whilst searching ebay Australia.., seems to have a different style of mid drive IE not Bafang or Bosch.. anybody seen one of these before?

Yes, @wa5, its an older style of mid drive currently used in Evelo bikes, the former RMartin R10 and HiTek . The R10 & HiTek have an identical appearance to the Aseako.
Both are from Alibaba sourced Asian product. Not an easy motor to rebuild; almost less expensive to just replace it if the gear system inside broke. Early models were a less powerful 250 motor, not particularly torqey although Evelo's 500 watt upgrade is going to be better.
